Bucket Style Bangers FAQs

What is a Bucket Banger?

The Bucket Banger is the OG design that started it all. It gets its name from its simple, cup-shaped chamber where you drop your wax.

Inside this category, you’ll find two main styles that feature this classic shape: Traditional Buckets and Auto Spinners. While Traditional Buckets are paired with a carb cap, Auto Spinners use a solid top marble to seal the bucket. Both styles are commonly used with terp pearls or inserts to help vaporize your concentrate.

How do I use a Bucket Banger?

The steps are slightly different depending on which style of bucket you are rocking:

  • Traditional Buckets: Drop one or two terp pearls inside the cold bucket, torch it evenly, and let it cool down. Drop your wax in, then cover it with a carb cap. (Note: You’ll need a spinner carb cap if you want those pearls to spin).
  • Auto Spinners: Drop your pearls in first, torch it, and let it cool. Drop your wax inside, then cover the top with a solid marble or cap to seal it completely. The built-in wall holes will automatically spin for you—no special cap needed.
What is the Difference Between a Traditional Bucket Banger and an Auto Spinner?

Visually, the shape is the same—they both use the same classic, cup-shaped bucket design. The real difference is all in how the airflow works:

  • Traditional Buckets have solid quartz walls. They rely 100% on carb caps to push air inside and move your wax and terp pearls around.
  • Auto Spinners have precise airflow holes drilled directly into those quartz walls. This creates an automatic built-in vortex when you inhale, spinning your pearls with a simple, solid top cap or marble.
What accessories are needed for Bucket Bangers?

The accessories needed depend on the style of Bucket Banger.

  • For Traditional Buckets: You need a carb cap (like a bubble cap or directional cap). While you don’t technically need terp pearls to use a traditional bucket, we think it is super inefficient not to use them. Without pearls, your wax just pools at the bottom instead of spreading out. You can also pair traditional buckets with inserts. Just remember: if you want pearls to spin in a traditional bucket, you’ll need a spinner carb cap.
  • For Auto Spinners: You just need one or two terp pearls and a solid marble or cap that creates a tight, airtight seal over the top of the bucket.
How do I clean a Bucket Banger?

After your dab, let the quartz cool slightly and choose whichever method works best for you:

  • Terp Tip Method: For a quick clean, use a cotton swab lightly soaked in isopropyl alcohol to wipe down the inside of the bucket. We highly recommend our XL Terp Tips—the extra-long handles give you plenty of leverage to easily clear the entire bucket wall and scrub the bottom corners in a few quick swipes.
  • Dunk Method: Remove your carb cap and dunk the banger with pearls directly into an isopropyl alcohol bath, then wipe it completely dry with a clean cloth. To make this effortless, use our Banger Cleaning Bin—the built-in strainer basket lets you drop your banger and accessories right in to soak, then lift it out easily without a mess.
  • Spray Method: If you prefer not to dunk, spray the quartz with isopropyl alcohol to loosen any residue, then wipe it down with a clean cloth or paper towel. This is a great middle-ground option for quick maintenance between deeper cleans.

Regardless of the method you use for your banger, always give your carb cap and terp pearls a quick wipe with a clean cloth or paper towel dampened with isopropyl alcohol for more stubborn residue. Keeping your accessories clear of buildup ensures optimal airflow and flavor for every session.

Will a Traditional Bucket Banger Spin Terp Pearls?

Yes, but you must use a specialized spinner carb cap to force the air to rotate. If you are looking for automatic spinning without a special cap, that’s exactly what Auto Spinners are designed for since the airflow channels are built right into the quartz.

How do I get Terp Pearls to spin properly?

It depends on which banger you are using:

  • For a Traditional Bucket: You need a spinner carb cap to create that vortex airflow. A standard bubble cap might wiggle the pearls around, but it won’t keep them spinning in a consistent circle.
  • For an Auto Spinner: The airflow is built right into the quartz walls. Just use one or two pearls and a solid marble or cap that completely seals the top opening.

If your pearls still aren’t spinning: Make sure the banger is completely clean (sticky oil buildup will glue them down), your cap is creating a tight seal, and you aren’t overloading the bucket. We always recommend sticking to one or two pearls max.

What size Terp Pearls should I use?

For most Bucket Bangers, 5mm or 6mm pearls are the sweet spot. They hold heat perfectly and move around easily without splashing your wax up the neck. Some people like smaller 4mm pearls for a super fast, high-RPM spin.

We recommend using one or two pearls in the 5mm–6mm range to achieve the best results.

Why is my wax pooling in the bottom of the bucket?

If you are left with a big puddle of oil at the bottom, it’s usually because your temperature dropped too low, your cap isn’t pushing enough airflow, or you dropped a glob that was just too big for the banger to vaporize efficiently. To fix it, try bumping up your starting temperature slightly, or throw in a couple of terp pearls to help spread that puddle across the hot quartz walls.

What was the original style of quartz banger?

The Traditional Bucket Banger was the first design to completely blow up and change the game, setting the standard for how everyone dabs today. Before buckets, people were mostly using titanium or ceramic nails with glass domes, which were a total hassle.

The invention of the Bucket Banger marked the official transition to quartz becoming the main material we dab on, thanks to its amazing flavor and heat retention. The simple, cup-shaped bucket design changed everything because it was a breeze to clean and allowed people to start experimenting with different carb caps and terp pearls. Pretty much every modern banger you see today—including Auto Spinners, Terp Slurpers, and Towers—is just an evolved version of the classic traditional bucket.
